Orthopedic and Spinal Surgery

Dr. Darwish graduated MBBCh in 1984 from Cairo University Medical School, Egypt. After obtaining his postgraduate degree in Orthopaedic and trauma surgery (MD) in Egypt, he then obtained the MSc (Surgery of Trauma) from the University of Birmingham, England. In 2004, he was granted the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, by the Specialist Training Authority of the Medical Colleges, UK.

Prior to joining Eureka Medical Clinic in September 2006, Dr. Darwish (as a surgeon he is referred to as Mr. Darwish in the UK) worked as consultant orthopedic and spinal surgeon at North Devon District Hospital in the UK.

Dr. Darwish is now at Bougainvillea Clinic, where in addition to general orthopedic and trauma surgery, he performs spinal surgery and Total Joint Replacement (knees and hips) .

Dr. Darwish treats all forms of bone fractures. Whereas prior to the establishment of the specialty of orthopedic (orthopaedic) surgery in the British Virgin Islands, most people with compound or complex bone fractures had to be transferred off-island for treatment , now few, if any, such patients need to go off island for treatment, out of necessity. When such a case arises, it is usually because of other associated injuries/traumas which need transfer.

With the help of MRI and X-ray facilities available at Eureka Medical Clinic, Dr. Darwish has also transformed the care of non-fracture related problems of the spine, bones, joints and muscles, in the British Virgin Islands.
